AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport Cabriolet BMW M3, the sun shines, the wind’s in your hair and the engine note in your ears: almost no other vehicle on the road evokes such untrammelled emotions as the BMW M3 Cabriolet. Especially when the road leads via AC Schnitzer in Aachen. The 309 kW / 420 HP V8 engine is (as yet) untouched, but in the end, extra sporting performance can be achieved in a different way, as suspension guru Manfred Wollgarten knows: “With our racing suspension set up on the North Loop, we’ve thoroughly mastered the physics of driving”.

The car is an out-and-out eyecatcher from the outside: with its new front skirt and strictly rectangular segments of the chromed grille insert, the vehicle has a strong, muscular look. The sporting presence is further underlined by the carbon spoiler lip with optional aluminium braces. The power dome on the bonnet hints at the powerful 4.0 litre V8. It is flanked by two AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport Cabriolet BMW M3 Bonnet Vents, which emit a greedy intake howl during driving. At the sides, the open-air sports car shows its muscles in the form of flexibly moulded side skirts which emphasise the wheelarches. The latter are perfectly filled by the 20″ Type V lightweight forged rims. Their slender spokes give a clear view of the 8-pot high performance braking system by AC Schnitzer which mercilessly reins in the thrust when required. A deceleration performance which the ACS3 rarely needs for cornering, where it behaves totally neutrally by AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport Cabriolet BMW M3.

A carbon rear diffuser helps the vehicle hunker down to the asphalt. The perfect driving experience is rounded off by the acoustic qualities of the powerful vehicle, provided by the AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport Cabriolet BMW M3 sports rear silencer with chromed tailpipes in “Racing“ design. The sonorous note of the cabrio is heard at its best in narrow road tunnels. If only the sun would shine a bit more often there! And naturally AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport Cabriolet BMW M3 maintains the motorsport atmosphere in the driver’s workplace, with attractive and ergonomically designed aluminium elements for the gear knob and handbrake handle, pedals and i-Drive controller. A carbon interior trim and sports airbag steering wheels are available on request, together with velours mats.

2007 BMW M6 Cabriolet

BMW’s fastest ever soft-top, the BMW M6 Convertible, will make its debut at the British International Motor Show (18th to 30th of July 2006). Powered by the award-winning 5.0-litre V10 engine and using a host of F1-derived technology, the BMW M6 Convertible combines all the performance of the M6 Coupe but with the added luxury of open-air motoring.

The M6 Convertible goes on sale in the UK in September 2006. It becomes the first ever BMW to make a British Motor Show debut and it is the first time a BMW M version of a 6 Series Convertible has been built.

The new open-top M6 uses BMW’s 4,999cc V10 powerplant developing 507hp. This powers the car from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds before going on to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Unchecked, the car could continue to a top speed approaching 200mph. Its sheer performance, alongside the engine’s technological advancements, are just two of the reasons the worldwide judging panel of the International Engine of the Year voted the M6′s 5.0-litre V10 engine the world’s best for the second year in succession – a new landmark in the history of the awards.

E92 cabriolet mechanical roof movement

The BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible ranges both have a new flagship model. The M Sport specification level is now the most dynamic and sporting incarnation currently available for the recently launched Coupé and Convertible ranges.

Offered on all engine variants, M Sport cars come with a raft of additional equipment as standard compared to an SE model. An M Aerodynamic body styling package gives the cars a distinct, sporting look, while Sport suspension with a stiffer, and 15mm lower, set-up provides a more focussed ride. All models come with 18-inch M star-spoke light alloy wheels as standard with a differently styled 19-inch M Double-spoke light alloy wheel as an option. High-gloss Shadow line exterior finishes to the window surrounds is also a standard feature.

Inside, all M Sport models feature Sports seats upholstered in Blue Shadow cloth Alcantara, Individual anthracite headlining, M designation doorsill finishers and a short-shift M gearlever with a perforated leather gaiter and handbrake lever. A Brushed Aluminium interior trim and M leather steering wheel complete the package.

M Sport models are traditionally a popular choice for BMW buyers. On six-cylinder-engined 3 Series Coupé and Convertible models they account for more than three-quarters of all sales. The introduction of this latest generation of sports model is expected to maintain this ratio. M Sport model cars are only available in a choice of four metallic colours (Titanium Silver, Black Sapphire, Le Mans Blue, Sparkling Graphite) and two non-metallic colours (Alpine White, Crimson Red).

Prices start at £28,330 OTR for a 320i M Sport Coupé rising to £37,745 OTR for a 335d M Sport Coupé. The entry-level 320i M Sport Convertible costs £32,255 OTR while the range-topping 335i M Sport costs £40,250 OTR..
