BMW M7

BMW has time and time again denied even considering a 7-series based M7 luxury high-performance sedan. That doesn’t stop the rumour mill from spinning at high speed though. For sure a twelve-cylinder 760i is under production as proven by spy pictures.

But this rendering of a possible BMW M7 may be seen as a nudge to the powers that be by fans that as nice as a 760i might be, it does not replace the craving they experience for something more. The front bumper is certainly M as it resembles other M bumpers from cars like the M5. The side mirrors were strangely left untouched but the wheels got seven double-spoke rims that almost pass as genuine M kit. This artist impression is more like the touch of a feather than a passionate stroke from a Picasso brush.

Sticking with the rumour theme, a BMW M7 would probably use the same 6.0-litre V12 from a 760i and produce in excess of 600hp (441kW) through the use of turbo technology. It would compete with cars like the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG/ S600 and the Audi S8.

2009 BMW 7-Series

Replacing the old giant of a luxury saloon BMW lovingly dubbed the 7-Series, is another, well, giant of a luxury saloon sporting the same design as the older 7 but if its safe to say, a different look. Bigger kidney grills that ape the nostrils of a pissed off hog are new to the 2009 7-Series, so are the butterfly wing tail lights but if you haven’t noticed, these are all taken off BMWs design study cars, the grills are off the concept CS, the tail lights are a spin off from the 5-Series facelift, the stance and ride height of the car seem very X6, and of course, there’s always that Bangle touch.

BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series offers a quantum leap into the future through a feast of innovation, an irresistible magnet for those destined to lead by example.

The striking, sculpted body styling is matched by an elegant, interior that re-interprets BMW’s traditional driver-oriented design and introduces levels of control and choice never seen before.

The progressive exterior and interior design combines with the latest generation of powerful yet frugal V8 engines, electronically controlled aluminum suspension system, and a multitude of advanced technologies.

Maximum usability, minimum complexity: iDrive simplifies the control of the 7 Series’ many driving and cabin comfort features. Often-used features – windscreen-wipers, indicators, radio and telephone for example – are controlled using levers or keys on or around the steering wheel. Secondary functions – the address book, the navigation system or BMW TeleAssist – are accessed via the iDrive Controller on the central console, with menus and information displayed clearly on the Control Display.

The right information in the right place at the right time – this is the purpose of BMW TeleAssist. Should any difficulties arise, your location is automatically transmitted to the emergency or the breakdown service: the latter relays important vehicle data to the BMW Servicemobiles so that the right help arrives on the scene faster.

The result is a 7 Series that resets the benchmark for luxury car performance, dynamism, safety, sumptuous comfort as well as responsible consumption.

The superior and refined eight-cylinder petrol engines with fully variable VALVETRONIC valve drive – now come with even larger capacity than before, develop maximum output of 270 kW/367 hp and, respectively, 225 kW/306 hp, and offer peak torque of 490 Nm/361 lb-ft and, respectively, 390 Nm/287 lb-ft. And despite this significant increase in engine output and torque, naturally offering a far higher standard of performance, fuel consumption remains almost unchanged.

In its design, the BMW 7 Series reflects the enhanced, even more sophisticated substance of the car from every perspective. Focusing on the higher level of sporting and dynamic performance provided by the new engines, BMW’s designers and stylists sought above all to emphasis this superior performance through appropriate details at the front end, the rear and the side of the car. So it almost goes without saying that luxury and presence continue to characterize the charismatic and elegant looks of the BMW 7 Series.

Within the interior the supreme feeling of luxury, tranquility and roominess has been further enhanced by detailed improvement of the car’s design, materials, and colors.
